I originate from the Midwest of the United States, but enjoy traveling outside of the region whenever the opportunity presents itself. I started getting interested in photography early in my high school career around the time I got my driver’s license. For the first time I was able to travel outside of my immediate area on my own time to pursue the activities I desired one of which being photography. Through my new found freedom I was seeing and experiencing many things for the first time, and I made it a priority to capture my discoveries through the use of my family’s camera. Traveling to some of the larger cities in my area I came into contact with street art, and became immediately fascinated with the art form. Ever since my initial interaction with street art I’ve been trying to make my own with some success. Around this time I started taking photography classes at school to pick up a couple of techniques I couldn’t have hoped to learn on my own. One of my favorite things to do at school was to take advantage of the nearly abandoned dark room to develop photos (I went to an old high school that offered photography classes before the digital age) which is where my love for black and white photography emerged. Now that I’m out of the public school system and at a university there isn’t a whole lot of free time, but I believe that being an artist is a big part of what makes me who I am today. As a result of how art has positively influenced me for several years I make it a point to create time for my hobby. I make art, because it can make me feel a sense of pleasure most people can only get with substances, it pushes me to go out into the world more often, to go somewhere I’ve never been, and put me in situations I’d otherwise never experience.
